Drones are particularly intensively used in the Aegean Region. In the Aegean Region, Izmir, Manisa, and Aydın stand out in the agricultural use of drones. Başoğlu, who states that drone usage in the Aegean Region has increased by 75% compared to previous years, mentions that in recent times, drone usage has also started to become widespread in Thrace, Central Anatolia, Southeastern Anatolia, and the Black Sea regions outside the Aegean. Başoğlu continues: "For example, in the Southeastern Anatolia Region, demand has increased by 70% compared to previous years. In this region with rich agricultural land, farmers have started to use drones, which are less costly and more environmentally friendly than tractor spraying, during pesticide application periods. In Şanlıurfa, producers have started to prefer aerial spraying with drones, which is said to be less costly and has lower environmental and animal impact, over spraying their fields with tractors. To give an example from the Central Anatolia Region, in Konya, which meets 10% of Turkey's total agricultural production, large agricultural areas have started to be sprayed with agricultural drones.
In the growing agricultural economy, the digital agriculture market is estimated to reach $13.5 billion by the year 2023. Robots evolving and diversifying with artificial intelligence technology are increasingly solidifying their place in the agricultural sector. Robotic agriculture, with various types such as agricultural spraying robots, weed-pulling robots, and planting robots, enhances productivity in plant cultivation. Especially in plant protection applications, which play a crucial role in producers' fight against diseases and pests, robots are increasingly preferred.
